Inland Empire, the latest film from director David Lynch is a 3 hour descent into fear and paranoia, replete with scenes of distorted and alternate realities, double lives and enigmatic, irrational signs and sounds. It’s beautiful for this, and if you can hang with it, it’s definitely a mind buzz. Laura Dern plays an actress just past the prime years of her career whose good fortune in being cast in a film is turned upside down when it is revealed the script is cursed. I’ve been very disapointed by this movie, except for the visual aspect.
